RTP and Rebuilding Together, Inc.'s National Affiliate Network
Rebuilding Together, Inc. is the nation's leading nonprofit working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities.
Rebuilding Together Philadelphia (RTP) is an independent, local affiliate of Rebuilding Together, Inc. As its own 501c3, RTP has the autonomy to organize itself in ways that meet the needs of low-income communities throughout the greater Philadelphia region. At the same time, RTP enjoys the benefits of being connected to a national organization. Rebuilding Together, Inc.'s affiliate network is 200 strong, serving more than 2,000 cities and towns across the country. Last year, our network made repairs to approximately 10,000 homes. These repairs have a market value of more than $100 million. Across the country, Rebuilding Together's average client has lived in their home for 20 years, and has an annual income under $16,000. They cannot afford critical home repairs.
The affiliate network fuels RTP with great energy and experience by sharing best practices and lessons learned from supportive colleagues, all of whom understand the common philosophy of Rebuilding Together – using volunteer resources to preserve affordable homeownership. Rebuilding Together Inc.'s National Conference is an excellent, annual opportunity for affiliates to gather in unity.
RTP also benefits from national sponsorships generated by Rebuilding Together Inc. These sponsorships not only bring corporate dollars to the Philadelphia area, but also heighten RTP's visibility and exposure to new people, new industries, and new partners. As an affiliate, RTP has access to Rebuilding Together Inc.'s Organizational Development Institute, which provides in-depth, comprehensive, and research-based training and technical assistance. Rebuilding Together Inc.'s advocacy efforts connect RTP to policy makers and strive to bring the issues facing the constituencies that RTP's serves to the forefront of elected and appointed officials.
Rebuilding Together Fills a Pressing Need in our Communities
The United States is facing enormous problems, many of which have reached crisis levels. The low-income homeowners that Rebuilding Together affiliates serve are disproportionately affected by these issues. Homeownership is at an all time high, especially among low to mid-income Americans, but the costs of owning and maintaining a home are growing exponentially. Healthcare costs are skyrocketing, leaving low-income citizens with less and less disposable income for home repairs and modifications. The rising cost of living and falling social service budgets have left some of our most vulnerable neighbors without the most basic of necessities, a warm, safe, and dry home. Rebuilding Together is well placed to face these problems with full understanding and to create real, sustainable solutions for low-income homeowners.
